Basic structure, advantages and disadvantages of cell
A typical prismatic cell, important components include: top cover, shell, positive plate, negative plate, lamination or winding of diaphragm, insulating parts, safety components, etc., and two are safety structures, NSD needle safety device; OSD overcharge protection device.
The needle-punching safety protection device is to add a metal layer, such as copper sheet, on the outermost side of the coil core of the prismatic core. When the acupuncture occurs, the local large current at the acupuncture position rapidly reduces the current per unit area through a large area of copper sheet, which can prevent the local overheating at the acupuncture position and slow down the occurrence of thermal runaway of the battery.
The overcharge safety protection device can be seen on many lithium batteries at present. It is generally a metal sheet, which can be used with a fuse. The fuse can be designed on the positive current collector. During overcharge, the pressure inside the prismatic cell causes the overcharge protection device to trigger an internal short circuit, which causes an instantaneous large current, thus making the fuse fuse fuse and cutting off the internal current circuit of the battery.

The reasons for the safety of lithium iron phosphate battery are:
