Basic functions of BMS
BMS mainly realizes five basic functions: battery status detection, battery status analysis, battery safety protection, energy control management, and battery information management.
1. Condition monitoring
Real time collection of battery charging and discharging status. The collected data include total battery voltage, total battery current, temperature of each battery measuring point and battery voltage of single module.
2. State Analysis
The system collects charging and discharging current, voltage and other parameters in real time, and estimates SOC through corresponding algorithms.
The battery aging degree is commonly known as SOH, and the full name is the abbreviation of State of Health. Health is a concept similar to human beings. Death refers to the failure of the battery and its inability to work. Sickness refers to the weakening of the battery's ability and deterioration of its performance. At present, the fault vector information is mostly used to indicate whether the battery is invalid or not, which can be understood as a category of fault diagnosis. The weakening of the battery capacity is similar to the illness of people. The amount of electricity generated and absorbed becomes less. Its electrochemical mechanism is that the ability of lithium ion insertion and desorption of the positive and negative electrodes becomes weaker, the SEI thickens, and the migration resistance increases!
3. Security protection
According to the current, voltage and temperature information of the battery, calculate the power and current limits of the battery. At the same time, in case of serious overcurrent, overcharge, overcharge and over discharge, and over temperature problems, give an alarm in time, and handle the corresponding faults.
4. Energy control management
Reasonable current control shall be carried out during charging and discharging to prevent over charging and over discharging. When there is a certain degree of difference in battery SOC between individual cells, it will be balanced to improve the driving range of the whole vehicle and prevent safety problems.
5. Battery information management
Send the main information of battery, such as current, voltage, temperature, SOC, SOH, driving range, etc. to the instrument.
